A Journey

Pilgrim's ProgressAmy decided to read a Christian classic that she had read long ago. She did this partly as an element of her devotional life and partly because she is an avid reader who wants to be challenged by its Old English writing style. I joined in but opted for the modern English audio version. Amy chose John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress, a 1678 allegory of the Christian life.

This week, I (Mike) led a prayer time for our team based on the life stages Bunyan’s character experiences in the journey of faith, service and death. We prayed around Our Burdens → The Victory of the Cross → Challenges we Face → Hope for the Future. A refreshing element of the book’s storytelling aspect is the frequent use of Scripture references.

You, too, may want to read, listen to or even watch a modern retelling of this great Christian classic. It will encourage you to persevere in your own faith.
