Blood Relatives

familyThis past month was filled with visiting family, culminating in our family getting together for a weekend. Now that our girls are grown and living in various places, it has become a chore to get us all together in one place. So we started the first (hopefully annual) Waid family retreat. During the time together, we did a Bible study that included a prayer and a charge to each of our daughters.

We spent time with Mike’s Dad in Missouri. While we were there, we saw several relatives from Mike’s Mom’s side of the family. It was a keen reminder of the incredible spiritual heritage that has been passed down from my Mom’s parents.

The family travel was precipitated by the biannual gathering of all the USA Cru staff—our spiritual brothers and sisters through Christ’s blood. The themes were clear: God’s holiness, our dependence, sincere prayer, and a collective desire to keep Jesus at the center of it all.
