Mike graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1988 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  He placed his faith in Christ as a 13 year old.  When he started college, he wanted to find a source of good fellowship.  A number of his brother's friends were going to the weekly campus meeting of Campus Crusade, so he went to a few.

After a while, he joined a weekly Bible study led by a student who was involved in Crusade.  The student had just become a Christian and was excited about his faith.  It was the first time someone showed Mike there was more to Christianity than just going to church. His sophomore year he started a work/study program with McDonnell Douglas.  This put him in the workplace every other semester.  He was able to experience the ministry opportunities that would be open to him as a young professional out of college.  When it came time to graduate, he was able to make an informed choice between full-time Christian ministry and lay ministry.  He chose to join the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ.  He was placed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to work with the Campus Ministry.

Amy graduated from Akron University in 1987 with a degree in Clothing and Textiles.  She became a believer at a young age through the encouragement and teaching of her parents.  She chose to be involved in Campus Crusade because of its strong emphasis on evangelism.  Upon graduation she joined the staff of Campus Crusade and was placed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

As you can see, we met in Madison.  Our staff team of ten people allowed us to work closely with each other.  After my first year and a half on the team we were engaged and soon married.  We continued as a married couple for another year.

Our work was primarily to share the gospel with as many students as possible, and to train some in evangelism and discipleship.  Most of our day was spent sharing the gospel with unchurched, agnostic, cultic and misguided students.  The campus was known as the Berkeley of the East due to the free thinking style of the students.  The evenings were spent discipling and encouraging the students who were involved in Crusade.

The "JESUS" film is a documentary account of the life of Jesus taken from the Gospel of Luke.  It was developed because of a deep desire to share the truth of God's word with individuals throughout the world in their own heart language.  Through the medium of film, the life changing message of JESUS is reaching the world's masses.  It has been translated into over 800 languages, and is effectively being used in urban and rural settings.  It is appealing to both young and old, and is understood by educated and illiterate alike.

In 1992, we made a ministry change within Campus Crusade.  We moved to Russia to assist with the work of The JESUS Film Project.  In the Soviet Union, the film was combined with a school curriculum on Christian morals and ethics.  This program, called a Teacher Convocation, was demonstrated and taught to thousands of public school teachers throughout the region.  All this was done at the invitation of the Ministry of Education in Russia, Ukraine, Albania, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova and Belarus.

The follow-up to these Convocations is a multi-ministry effort called the CoMission.  They sent teams of ten people to some of the Convocation sites to help the teachers implement the curriculum in their schools and to involve the parents in community Bible studies.  We stayed in Russia four months before returning to the States to have our first child.  We continued coordinating parts of this effort from the headquarters of The JESUS Film Project in southern California.

In 1996, we switched to a new department at The JESUS Film Project called the Macedonian Project.  Although the film is used by over 1300 other mission agencies around the world, there are still places that the film is not being used.

Today, there are still millions of people who have never had the opportunity to hear this Good News.  It is estimated that 1,739 people groups have no viable church, church planting movement or active witness among them.

In 1998, Mike became the East Asia Distribution representative for The JESUS Film Project.  His role was to work with the national ministries in that part of the world by helping them to develop strategies to use the film.  He traveled through many of the East Asian countries and forged partnerships with several other ministries working in that area.

In 2000, Mike was asked by the Director of The JESUS Film Project to give leadership to the Computer and Information Technology department.  Mike loves "bringing order to chaos."  Over the past 13 years, Mike's love of order has served him well in various departments at The JESUS Film Project, particularly in helping new ideas gel into smoothly efficient systems.

God has brought in multiplied thousands of lives during our 15 years on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ.  While ministering to students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, we shared Christ and equipped believers to pass on the gospel.  The impact of these early years of campus outreach is still increasing today as the students we led to Christ, discipled, and trained in evangelism are in turn continuing to reach others!

Now, God has greatly expanded our ministry to the four corners of the globe through the unique and ever-expanding utilization of the JESUS film. Astonishingly, more than 5 billion exposures to the gospel in nearly 250 countries have already occurred through the JESUS film's challenging message, and more than 170 million viewers have indicated decisions for Christ.  The most widely translated film ever; its soundtrack is currently in over 950 languages, which speak directly to the hearts of viewers, with several hundreds of other dialects now in production or being readied.  An estimated 750,000 new churches have been started after showings of the JESUS film.

At this time, JFP is prepared to take a leadership role in innovative methods to reach people for Christ around the world.  The Internet provides a new means to expand upon the traditional work of the ministry.  We are developing enhanced ways to communicated with those involved with The JESUS Film Project, from financial donors to ministry partners to interested viewers.

Over the years, Campus Crusade for Christ has grown substantially.  There are over 7,000 staff members in the United States involved in approximately 68 different ministries and ministry projects.  Then there is over 13,000 additional staff in another 180 countries.  The movements focus has been primarily on the proclamation of the Gospel and follow-up of new believers.
